What ISPM-15 heat treatment means
ISPM-15 is the international standard for wood packaging, including pallets, skids and crates, used in international trade. Its purpose is to stop wood pests from crossing borders. For heat treatment (HT), the core of the wood must reach at least 56 °C for at least 30 continuous minutes. The pallet is then stamped with the official mark so customs officers can see it was treated.
How to read the ISPM-15 stamp. A compliant pallet carries a mark with: the IPPC wheat symbol; the country code (CA for Canada); the registration number of the facility that treated it; and the treatment code, HT for heat treatment. Sometimes it also shows DB for debarked. No stamp means the pallet is not accepted as ISPM-15 compliant, even if the wood was kiln-dried.

When do you need heat-treated pallets?
Shipping overseas: most countries require ISPM-15 stamped wood packaging, including the EU, the UK, China, Australia, Mexico and most of Asia.
Shipping to the United States: wood packaging moving between Canada and the continental U.S. is exempt from ISPM-15 if your shipping documents show it is made from Canadian or U.S. wood. Shipments to Hawaii and U.S. territories still need ISPM-15 marks. See the CFIA guidance. Many importers and 3PLs ask for heat-treated pallets anyway, to avoid delays.
Always confirm the rules for your destination country before you ship.
Where our heat-treated pallets come from
We do not operate our own heat-treatment kiln. Our heat-treated pallets are treated and stamped at a CFIA-registered heat-treatment facility under Canada’s Heat Treated Wood Products Certification Program, so every stamp carries that facility’s registration number. Ask us for the facility details if your customer or freight forwarder needs them.

Frequently asked questions
What is an ISPM-15 pallet?
A pallet made from wood that has been heat-treated or fumigated to the ISPM-15 standard and stamped with the official IPPC mark. It is required for wood packaging in most international shipments.
What does HT mean on a pallet?
HT stands for heat treatment. The wood core was heated to at least 56 °C for at least 30 minutes at a registered facility, whose number appears in the stamp.
Do I need heat-treated pallets to ship to the U.S.?
Usually not for the continental U.S., if your documents show the wood is Canadian or U.S. in origin. Hawaii and U.S. territories require ISPM-15 marks. Many U.S. buyers still prefer heat-treated pallets, so check with your customer.
Is a kiln-dried pallet the same as heat-treated?
Not necessarily. Only wood treated to the ISPM-15 schedule and stamped by a registered facility counts as ISPM-15 compliant.
What is the minimum order and lead time?
New pallet orders start at 30 to 50 pallets depending on the size, with a standard lead time of 3 to 5 business days. Heat-treated crates and skids start at 50.
